Manila regional trial court Judge Silvino Pampilo said government prosecutors failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the year old widow of former dictator Ferdinand Marcos broke the law. The government claimed that the Marcoses and an associate who has since died illegally transferred large sums of money to foreign accounts in Switzerland from to . Imelda Marcos smiled as she walked out of the courtroom and expressed confidence that all the remaining cases against her and her family would eventually be resolved in their favour. A lawyer for the Marcoses said that of the c! ases filed by the government against the family since cases remained. The rest have been dismissed. A four day bloodless people power revolution in February drove the Marcoses and their cronies into exile in Hawaii after Ferdinand Marcos had ruled the country for years. Critics alleged that he amassed ill gotten wealth of up to billion dollars but after years of searching the government has managed to retrieve million dollars from Swiss accounts.
